Ontario Strawberries Are Here

But they don’t taste the same as they used to, do they?  Remember how much flavour those tiny, scraggly, juicy little things used to pack?   They’re still better than the ones we get through the winter; the huge, plasticy, perfect strawberries that have more air miles than I do.  But they don’t taste like they used to.  Even the organic ones, (which you really should buy because strawberries are high on the pesticide chart, sorry to nag), just aren’t the same!  Maybe it’s just me.  I’m digging in regardless.  (Kathy)

I sympathize with you and Danya. When I was a child and my family lived in Louisiana, my father would take us to Ponchatula every spring and get us a flat of strawberries from one of the farmers who grew them there. I can still taste them, sweet, juicy and utterly delicious. The strawberries I buy in the store nowadays just don’t compare.
